Day 119, June 17th

Went to work Friday per usual, but not per usual I got off at 1 p.m. thanks to Summer Fun Hours at work! We get one Friday each month in the summer to leave early! It's fabulous!
I ran some errands then headed home to get ready.  Ryan's niece's birthdays passed in the last couple months and part of our gift was to take them to dinner, so finally we were able to schedule a time with them!!  Not only were we celebrating their birthday, but also their last summer before high school!! Seems like it was so long ago we were getting ready for high school!
So we took the girls to True Food, since it was Friday and do you remember when we were going to do Fox Fridays?! Well we haven't, so we were trying to kick start those again with the girls!
We had a good time hanging out, hearing about all that there is in the life of a 14 year old girl.  There is a pretty amazing candy store at Scottsdale Quarter, so we headed in there to take some photos, and sugar them up before we sent them back to their parents!!
We took them home, and on the car ride back up to their homes Mirah told me I reminder her of Lauren Conrad! I mean she may as well have told me that I was the best person in the entire world!!!! I text Mary and Ann to let them know how cool I was, and beamed with happiness the whole way home.  And yes, I realize how strange that is considering I'm older than Lauren and shouldn't think that's awesome, but I do, and I'm okay with that!

Day 118, June 16th

Thursday, we were even more uneventful! We had dinner, watched Six Feet Under and then decided we both really needed some ice cream, so headed to our local Cold Stone.
With our love of Froyo, some time you forget about the wonderfulness that Cold Stone brings.
We ate our ice cream and chatted while we people watched.  SoPho has such an interesting mix of people, I tell ya!
I love that I used SoPho and Froyo in the same blog post! Totally amazeballs!!

Day 117, June 15th

Wednesday, Ryan cooked up some delicious kabobs! Peppers and Pineapple were on sale so obviously we bought in bulk, so he made a fancy little combo that was just delicious!
After we ate dinner, we jumped into the 2nd of the Pirate movies.  I liked it, but it was long, and not as good as the first one in my humble opinion.  I'm glad I didn't have to wait long though to see it pick up in the 3rd one, I feel bad for the fans that had to wait!!  Sorry we weren't more interesting this week.  Mexico took a toll on us that is for sure!

Day 116, June 14th

Nothing exciting happened Tuesday.  We went to the gym, since we were not in any shape yesterday to do so and then made dinner.
We enjoyed some stuffed peppers and just spent the evening together.  I had never had stuffed peppers before but always wanted them since they look fun! I didn't actually eat the pepper but Ryan did! They were yummy that's for sure! We watched 19 Kids and Counting and The Little Couple, and that was really all of our excitement!

Day 115, June 13th

The smartest thing we've ever done is take the Monday off after Mexico.  My original reason was I knew not being home all weekend would mean no cleaning, and I knew I wouldn't be able to handle that, so I took the day off as a sort of catch up day.  Ryan decided to do the same, and sadly as we age, it was a good thing, because I don't think Ryan recovered from Saturday until late Monday!
We woke up, ate breakfast and then hit the road to Home Goods.  When we went to those model homes, they had adorable plates, that were taped down so I couldn't see where they were from. I really want these plates so did some investigating and couldn't find them anywhere.  Also in the model home were some bowls from Home Goods, so I decided to try my luck there to find these plates.
They didn't have them.
But they did have other cute plates and some other adorable knick knacks and I'm pretty sure I love this store now!!
After Home Goods we headed grocery shopping.  There were a few stops, but we hit them all and saved 47%!! Very exciting Monday for us!!
We got home and made some dinner.  When I started planning our meals, like I mentioned, I went to This Week for Dinner , where I found some yummy recipes.  Tonight we were having caprese paninis , and they were delicious!! We watched, I Shouldn't Be Alive and relished in our last night before heading back to work!

Day 114, June 12th

When Sunday morning came, I can't say I felt 100%, I'm not even sure I'd say I felt 50%, but for whatever reason, I was wide awake at 9:30 a.m.!!
I sat and slowly talked to Adrienne and Kolby for the few hours before Mary and Ryan woke up.  We slowly cleaned the house, packed our stuff, and hit the road around 1 or so.  The Sunday after the concert there is a Hangover Bash at JJ's Cantina, we were all planning on going.  The irony was not lost on me being too hungover to go to the Hangover Bash.
We drove home, this ride seemed much longer than coming in, and got home early evening.  I suggested to Ryan we eat something not healthy for dinner to hopefully soak up any remaining beer and tequila, so we went to Panda Express!!
Ryan is a Pirates of the Caribbean fan, and wants to see the newest movie.  I am not a fan, and really could care less. I told him to go with Brandon but he insisted that Brandon had probably already gone without him, which he did, so I said I'd watch all the movies and go with him if I must.  Go ahead and think I'm the best wife around!!
So after Panda, still in recoup mode, we watch the first Pirates movie. I will admit that I did enjoy the film, but won't say that I'll be adding it to my facebook favorite movie list anytime soon.

Day 113, June 11th

We had breakfast thanks to Kolby Saturday morning and then Ryan, Mary and I headed off to go ride ATVs in the desert.
We had a nice time riding around, until I couldn't spot Mary, panic set in then Ryan said he saw her and that she was stuck!!  Lucky for us we had big strong Ryan with us and he just lifted the 4 wheeler out of the mud.  He got very messy, and the guy back at the rental asked him if he got stuck, to which Ryan replied, oh no, just helped some other people out.  Hopefully this man doesn't read the blog and know the truth!!
After the crazy time we had, we met back up with Adrienne and Kolby by the pool for some more relaxing!
Before we headed up to eat and head to the concert, we all went down to the beach for a bit, and we all took a nice little snooze.
We got ready and walked to the concert.  The show was great, but I still stick to Cinco de Mayo as the best show as of lately!
The show ended around 1 a.m. and Mary suggested we not head home, where Adrienne and Kolby already were, so we went to the bar across from the concert.  We had a far too wonderful time there, and finally headed out a few hours later.  We made the long walk home, stopping several times to take photos and finally made it back to the condo at almost 4:30 a.m.!! How nutso is that?!?! Yes, the same people that went to bed at 10:30 last night!!
It was a fun day and a fun night in Mexico for sure!

Day 112, June 10th

We woke up early on Friday morning, Mary came over, and we hit the open road to Mexico.  We finally arrived around noon, had some lunch and then hit the pool for drinks and relaxing!!
After an afternoon poolside, we headed back up to the condo to get ready to head out for the evening.
After we got dolled up and had a photo shoot, we headed in town to grab some pizza for dinner.
We also decided to conquer 20 shots while we waited for pizza.  20 shots and 3 pizzas later we were ready to head out for the night!
We had to pick up our wristbands for the Roger Clyne concert at JJ's so we decided to just to have our night of fun out there! We got our wristbands, met up with our friends from home and hung out, but only until like 10:30, we were all super tired, so we headed home and went to sleep.  Wild, I know, you should be totally jealous!

Day 111, June 9th

I had a walk meeting after work on Thursday and it was hard to concentrate knowing that in a few short hours I was on my way to Rocky Point!! When I finally got home from work, Adrienne and Kolby were already at our pad, getting pumped for the trip!!
We all went to dinner and the store to get ready for our journey in the morning.  Last summer, Kolby loved the syringes of jello so he went and bought himself some!! So Adrienne made some more jello shot while Ryan and I packed!

I was excited that Kolby and Adrienne were coming to Mexico with us but I was even more excited that they slept over the night before!! They were our first guest in the guest room!!!! Even though both Mary and Tommy had occupied this room previously, that was before it officially became the guest room!
I think they had a lovely night in the room, Adrienne enjoyed my kid books and read Kolby a story to help him fall asleep. Once our guests were snug as a bug, Ryan and I also headed off to bed.

Day 110, June 8th

On Wednesday Ryan had a baseball game, and I had a meeting after work with my Glendale Walk ladies, so I didn't get home until a bit later than usual.  When I got home, I tried to straighten up the house a bit and then got to work making jello shots for our Mexico trip.
A few years ago I went to a Christmas party with my sister, and at the party they had jello shots in syringes!! I thought it was the coolest thing ever so I had Ann order me some so I could do the same!!
Now, syringe jello shots are sort of my staple!! I ordered some new syringes last year as many of ours had disappeared after a few events, but some of these are at least 3 years old! So they aren't as moveable as they once were!! As I made the shots, getting the jello into the syringes on some was a difficult task, and more than once, the syringe snapped, sending non formed jello everywhere...it was quite a frustrating process, but I kept reminding myself, it would be worth it! This also reminds me that I should put in a new order of syringes to my local pharmacy!!

Day 109, June 7th

Tuesday was a pretty casual day for us.  Lounged around after work, ate some dinner then hit up our favorite spot on the couch, and watched Six Feet Under!!
This coming up weekend we are headed to Mexico, so the week before we really felt we needed to be as laid back as possible, same for next week when we get home!!
I made a fruit tart on Sunday for my dad and Sara, so we cut a slice and enjoyed our uneventful night on the couch.

Day 108, June 6th

So Ryan and I love to make our own pizza but we hadn't found a crust recipe we liked so Monday we tried one out, and we were very pleased!!
We made the crust then headed to the gym to let it rise.  We got home, rolled it out and made a pizza! We like thin crust pizza so I think next time we could roll it out a bit more and make two pizzas with this recipe, but either way, we really enjoyed it!

Day 107, June 5th

Sunday, and Ryan actually didn't have a baseball game!! So we woke up and headed to church then home to prepare for my dad and Sara coming over to see the place and have dinner.  They've never been over to the house, mostly because before we were married I didn't live there, so it's kind of awkward to be like, hey Ryan, I invited people over to dinner at your house!  And then since we've been married life has been hectic, so it was nice to finally have them over.  Plus they hadn't met their grandfurchildren yet, and that just wasn't right!!
We slaved in the kitchen all day :) and then had a lovely dinner when they arrived.  We had a nice time chatting about life, and creeping them out by telling them we saw them driving in Wickenburg.
After dinner we burned wedding photos for them and sent them on their way! It was a fun night and a yummy meal! Plus they totally loved Gus and Max, but that's not really too much of a challenge!

Day 106, June 4th

I woke up early on Saturday and headed to the baby shower for little Asher-roni!! It was a lovely shower, very Rachel-esque, no cheesy games, no cheesy anything, just yummy food, good company and presents!! It was a fun time to get to chat with old friends about the goings on in our current life.
It seems very strange that my bestie is having a baby.  When she told me in December she was pregnant it was like, oh wow, yes, some day you'll have a baby.  But now that you can actually see she's carrying a little babino, the reality is here! This is the girl that would never remember to bring her glasses when we went out and therefore could never see when she needed to! The girl who made up wild stories about Cocker Daniel with me in our pools and my dear friend who would make cookie dough with me after school and just eat that!! Seems like so long ago and now she's all married and having children!! I think about all the fun stuff we did when we were youngings and know that little Asher will have a grand time with Rachel as his mom!!

After the shower I headed home to hang with Ryan and the boys.  We planned to make dinner then watch some Six Feet Under, we're down to the last season, and we can't fathom nights without it!! So we made dinner, ate, and then started cleaning up.  We keep our pizza stone in the oven, so I was placing it back in when I touched the rack with all of my fingers and burnt every. single. one!
I yelped in pain and dramatically cried as Ryan googled best remedies! I mean I am not kidding you, I have never felt so much pain! Finally we read that running them under water, not just having them sit in water like I was doing, was best.  So for 10 minutes that's what I did.  The pain throbbed for about an hour after but it eventually went away.  Dramatic ending to an otherwise calm day!!

Day 105, June 3rd

Since we didn't work Monday, Friday was quickly upon us!! After work, we had dinner then hit the streets to get my bestola Rachel's baby shower gift! We went to Target first got a few things and then headed to Babies R Us.  They have so many cute things there!! I wanted to buy the entire store for little Asher!!
It also made me want to buy other things for people I know that want to have babies soon!! Ryan told me that would be creepy so I didn't... so Jenna blame Ryan that your future child doesn't have a rad set of converse!!
We spent far too much time in this store looking at all the stuff they have for babies and talking about how you really have no idea what you need when you have kids! I mean our wedding registry was easy, pretty stuff we wanted, but for a baby registry you actually need some practical stuff too!! Seems very stressful! Thankfully I have some time on that subject!  Then we headed home and watched Black Swan...whew, that was strange!!!!!!!!!

Day 104, June 2nd

On Thursday Ryan had a baseball game, so after work I met Amy and Elise at Aunt Chilada's for  happy hour!! I wasn't planning on going, but since it was a stones throw from my house how could I refuse?!
It was lovely catching up with the gals, we got so caught up that Amy was almost late picking up Heath from the airport!! Luckily he was a bit delayed so he was never the wiser.
Once I got home I decided to finally use up the going bad bananas and make some banana bread.  The last recipe I used I really liked, but couldn't remember where I found it...if only Ryan had written it in my recipe book!! :) So I found another one that used ingredients I had, it wasn't as good as the first one I made, but it was okay. Ryan came home and we went to sleep.  Wild Thursday!!

Day 103, June 1st

On Wednesday after work, Ryan and I hit up the grocery store to do some shopping and couponing!! My first flaw was bringing Ryan with, he wasn't a pro at sticking to the list, and definitely grabbed stuff he "needed" not on sale. <Cough> $5 organic jam <Cough>
We did pretty good, saving about 35% of our bill.  When we got home, Ryan decided we needed to redo the fridge so that healthy food was in his line of vision so he'd automatically grab that first! We moved the shelves around, cleaned and voila our new and oh so organized refrigerator!

Day 102, May 31st

A pretty calm night at the house of us.  We made dinner and sort of just bummed around.  I have collected several recipes since my cooking days started, and I have a lovely recipe book but due to being a lefty, I'm not really a huge fan of my handwriting.  Lucky for me, Ryan has great handwriting!!
So after dinner, and after shoving another recipe print out into the book I asked Ryan when he was ever going to finish putting my recipes in the recipe book??!! :) And so, while I cleaned the kitchen, he got to work.
What a lovely thing to do for messy lefty over here!! Once I finished cleaning I relieved him of his task and we watched some Six Feet Under!

Day 101, May 30th

Monday morning we woke up in Vegas and finally heard from Alex and Heather, they were in fact alive, but not millionaires...not even close!
We packed up the car and headed out of town to a nearby Denny's to meet up with our pals, talk about their exciting night, and fuel up for the drive home.  We had a good meal, and Alex let us all know that if he could only eat at one place for the rest of his life he'd pick Denny's, which I found quite interesting.
After breakfast we said goodbye to our friends and hit the road.  Nothing too exciting happened on the way home, except that we saw my dad and Sara in Wickenburg!! They drove up to Prescott for breakfast and were on their way home!! It's so exciting to randomly see people you know on the road in this giant state!!
Most of our day was spent driving.  When we got home we met my mom and Rick at Aunt Chilada's to get our house key back and to bum a free meal since we didn't hit it big in Vegas! A fun weekend, but glad to be back home!!

Day 100, May 29th

Sunday morning, again, Ryan was gone by the time I rolled out of bed.  Moving a little slow, I ate breakfast, cleaned the room a bit, then checked to see what Alex and Heather were up to.  Still in bed to my surprise! I was sure they had gone to the gym and had just finished up their 3 hour sess.  I felt relieved to know they were doing the same thing I was!  Ryan got back from his game and we decided to all meet up for some lunch.  We went to Dick's Last Resort, and Heather and I decided we needed to start drinking, Vegas style.
We enjoyed our drinks and lunch, did a bit of gambling and then it was time for Ryan to play baseball again!! With all the wind yesterday, Alex and Heather opted out of the game, since their allergies were kicking their tush!! So they headed off to gamble and we headed to the game.  Well the sun from yesterday was long gone, and it was freezing out! I was really not prepared, and the warmest thing I had was jeans and a t shirt!! I dropped Ryan off at the game then headed to the nearest Target to buy us some sweatshirts!
I hit the game, watched the Twins win their game and then headed back to the hotel.  Ryan was obviously a bit worn out from all the baseball, who could blame him, so we opted for a chill night.
Alex and Heather we're doing it big on Fremont Street, so we headed to dinner, to celebrate all the Twins success for the weekend, and to celebrate the fact that Ryan wouldn't have to play tomorrow morning! After dinner, we headed back to the room and Ryan fell asleep.  I drank a beer and watched some tv, it was a wild end to the trip! I wondered if Alex and Heather were millionaires by now, and was excited to hear how they did in the morning!

Day 99, May 28th

I woke up Saturday morning in Vegas all alone, it was like a scene from a movie!! I got up, ate a banana and then headed down to the pool.  I relaxed at the pool until Ryan's first game ended and then he came back and joined me.  We pooled it for a bit and talked about the first game, then headed up to the room so Ryan could get ready for the afternoon game.  By this time, Alex and Heather and made it in town, so we went to meet up with them so we could all go cheer on Ryan together!!
It was very windy and warm so it was enjoyable to sit out and watch a afternoon baseball game.  The other team had some little kid fans that chanted annoying cheers which made us regret not bringing more beer, but a good time we did have!
After the game we headed back to the hotel, got dolled up and hit the town to have some dinner and drinks.  We went to Nine Fine Irishmen for dinner, we got an array of appetizers all of which were yummy!! After dinner we headed back to the hotel to continue our time together and drink more!! Alex and Ryan let Heather and I in on their total coolness from high school, and only solidified how good it is that we met them after that time!!
After we all had plenty to drink, we headed to our room so Ryan could get up and do all of this all over again!

Day 98, May 27th

Friday morning, I got up and headed to get an oil change on Lolla and get some work done at Fleetwest.  Headed home in the afternoon, ate lunch with Ryan and then we hit the road to Vegas!! We usually try to do equal driving for road trips, except to Mexico, I'm too scared to drive in Mexico, so I drove us there, plus Ryan worked that day and I didn't so I had more energy!! :)
We got to Vegas and got settled about 8 p.m. or so.  We set up our food and drink for the weekend, took showers and then hit the strip to grab some dinner.  We went to Diablo's Cantina, enjoyed our yummy food and then headed back to the room since Ryan had a baseball game at 8 a.m. the next day! Not the night I was used to having in Vegas, but I fun time still was had!

Day 97, May 26th

On Thursday, we met up with Alex and Heather at iPic Theater.  Their gym was having an event for the premiere of The Hangover 2.  It was a nice night and I was excited to finally get to go to the iPic!! We really enjoyed the movie experience! I mean, getting to have wine and flat bread while watching a movie in a big comfy chair! Who wouldn't love that?! I think we all agree we like the movie, but it really was the same movie, just a different location.  After the movie we had some drinks with some folks from their gym, which I was fine with as I took Friday off, but the other 3 I thought were crazy, especially Heather who had to work early the next day and for 12 hours!!
It was a fun night and a pre game for the weekend which was Vegas!!

Day 96, May 25th

Wednesday we had a going away ice cream social for Ashley at work, so I was at work later into the evening. Since we are now fancy meal planners, we already had a dinner plan, so Ryan stepped to the plate and prepared the delicious meal.  It was very yummy, and it quickly rose to be one of Ryan's favorite dishes! It was a great meal, and a lovely treat to have dinner ready when I got home from work!! We ate dinner and then just relaxed for the rest of the evening, a pretty relaxed Wednesday at the home front.

Day 95, May 24th

Oh being a grown up...Ryan and I have been trying to figure out a good life insurance plan for us since we got married.  Does this mean Ryan is slowly killing me by slipping me something each dinner and wants to make sure he's covered? Maybe, but who's to say I'm not doing the same?!?!
Our luck now is one of us will pass away and some one will reference this blog post and think that one of us is a murderer!!
Anyway, on Tuesday, we signed our final paperwork for our life insurance and we are now officially covered! I didn't really see the point in having life insurance since if we are like Noah and Ali and die together when we are old, which will most likely happen, we will have just put away all this money for nothing!! But to my surprise, there are so many options to life insurance! I learned so much, it's wild what other people know that I know nothing about!!So now we are responsible adults and I can go on worrying Ryan is plotting my demise! Just Kidding.

Day 94, May 23rd

Over the weekend we got our wedding photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much excitement!! When we were planning the wedding, the photographer was the most important to me.  I love pictures, simply love them!! So that was the one thing I was willing to put some money towards!! I was so happy that we went with Hagerty Photography, they were amazing from start to finish!!
Our photos came in this adorable box with the flash drive inside!! I mean come on, that is so cute!! I spent most of Monday uploading all of our wedding photos online, while watching TLC, wild night, I know.

Day 93, May 22nd

Sunday, Ryan had a baseball game and then went to lunch with his parents.  So rather than sitting around the house alone all day, I coaxed my parents to come take me to lunch too!! My mom and Rick are interesting folks, they do random things to occupy their weekends.  I remember a few years back they would chase storms around the valley...literally.  You'd give them a call at 4:30 on a Saturday to see what they were up to and mom would reply, oh we're in Wickenburg watching the clouds move east.  So weird!!
So this Sunday they were looking at model homes.  They had just come back from a place and my mom was in love, which was bigger than their current house! Which is practical for two people to have an even bigger house that they don't need!! :) Anyway, they liked the house so much so they took me back to see it too. It was simply amazing!!
I mean seriously, this is my dream house, only a few problems, it's in deep Chandler, it's way expensive, and we aren't in the market for a house at the moment.  This house had a wine room, which is what the picture is of, I mean, who doesn't need a room in their home dedicated to wine?!?! I went home and told Ryan that we would have to move into this house some day, or build the exact replica somewhere else when we're ready for that step.  He agreed just to shut me up I'm sure, but then the next week I took Ryan to see the house and now he too agrees!! Yes dream home!

Day 92, May 21st

Saturday was Mirah's 14th birthday!! Ryan and I got up, cleaned the crib then headed up north for the day.  We had a yummy BBQ and pie to celebrate another year of Mirah and watched her open presents. It was a nice afternoon with the family.
After the party Ryan and I headed to Desert Ridge to kill some time before Leila and Elle's dance performance that night.  We went to Sandbar and enjoyed their happy hour deals and ate some dinner and talked about how odd it is for people that work at a bar to hang out at that said bar.  I mean I don't go hang around the JDRF office on Saturday afternoon, but then again I'd most likely be alone so maybe that's why.  These are the types conversations Ryan and I often share.
Once we were no longer hungry and time had past we headed to watch the girls strut their stuff on stage.  It really made me feel appreciative for my friends and family that would come watch my dance performances back in the day.  Some dances were really good but there were some that I could barely watch!! So big thanks to all of you that spend hours watching me dance as a child!! Much appreciated!
After the show we headed home and I danced around the house like a fool until Ryan forced me to go to bed!!

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Day 91, May 20th

Friday night Ryan went out with some of the guys from his baseball team, so I hung at home with the boys.
I had rented Catfish, and the trailer was wigging Ryan out, so I decided I would just watch it when he wasn't home, just in case it was too scary for him!! :)
It wasn't a scary movie, it was definitely a trip though.  The claim is that it's a real documentary, and I am still trying to figure out if that's true, or just another movie just trying to make the audience believe that it's real.  I suggest you see it though, if I were a movie reviewer, I'd give it 4 Gummy Bears (that would be my ranking symbol)!!
Ryan came home for the end of the movie so he got to see a majority of the oddness, I bet he now wishes he wasn't so scared to watch it in the first place!

Day 90, May 19th

Thursday night Ryan had a baseball game, so Mary came over and we had some wine and eats.  We had just sat down with our wine and caprese when Ryan called and said he forgot the helmets and need us to bring them to him. Yes, for the second week in a row!!
We ran up to Tempe Diablo, handed off the helmets and went back to our evening.  We had a lovely night chatting and catching up on the last few weeks we haven't seen each other.  It's weird when you live with some one and see them all the time and then bam, you don't live with them.
Ryan came home victorious, he joined our gab fest, talked about our upcoming Mexico trip and then Mary started the long 1 mile drive home. I didn't take a photo until after we had finished the night, so excuse the not so pretty look, but this is what Thursday night looked like for us!!

Day 89, May 18th

Wednesday was a weird one for me.  If you recall, I did a Kids Walk up in Prescott Valley a few weekends back, well on Wednesday I had to head north to pick up the money they raised! Lucky for me I got new tires on my car last weekend, I didn't mention that, my apologies!!  So I hit the road in the morning, it was cooler than usual in Phoenix, but not cool by any means. I put on jeans and a tank top, thinking that would do the trick.  Well when I arrived in Prescott Valley a little before lunch time, it was pouring rain and in the 50s!! No umbrella, and not dressed for the weather, I knew the nurse I was meeting would think, what an odd duck I was.  I picked up the money, grabbed lunch, and then headed back south to the office for the rest of the afternoon. I felt like a truck driver...but on a much smaller scale.
After work we had our first official Book Club meeting at Amy's.  We read, Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons, which was a really great book, and the perfect selection for our first meeting.  In true us fashion, we barely talked about the book, but talked about everything else.  We're easing into the club and the discussion.
When I got home, Ryan and I talked about the crazy day and how marvelous the first Book Club meeting was.  A successful Wednesday!!

Day 88, May 17th

The weather has been unusually cool this year, I mean the fact that we have had days in the 80s in May is amazing, so Ryan and I wanted to take full advantage.  Ryan called me at work to see if I wanted to bike ride along the canal after work.  We were making pizza for dinner, pretty simple, so I thought it would be a lovely idea.
We hit the trail, and I was so amazed at all the people out on along the canal!  It seriously is obviously the place to be in SoPho!! There were kids fishing, moms walking with their kiddos, fellow bike riders, it was like a whole new community I was unaware of!
We biked for over two miles and I boasted how easy it was and how I don't think it would be hard to ride to Mill!! I honestly believed my cruiser and I could make it!!
Once we decided to turn around to head back home, I realized the ease would no longer be there.  Riding into the wind rather than with it, was not as much fun.  The good news on the way back was I heard from Mike G, who gave be the wonderful news that I was now the proud bearer of NKOTBSB concert tickets!!! woohoo.  I think if I didn't get that text, I wouldn't have made it back against that wind...
As I complained about how hard it was to ride, and how I wanted to give up, a bug flew in my mouth and I swallowed it!!!! That, my friend, is Jesus.  Don't complain Sarah, I'll throw a bug in your mouth!!
We got home, I text my sister to share the concert news and then cooked up a lovely pizza.  What a Tuesday!!

Day 87, May 16th

On Monday we did our usual, got home from work, loved on the boys, then hit the gym.
When we got home we made a delicious meal of Creamy Pesto Fettuccine with Mushrooms & Tomatoes, which is one I took from This Week for Dinner.  It was very yummy and we really enjoyed it!! After dinner, we lounged on the couch and watched Six Feet Under.  With all our regular shows pretty much done for the summer, we are blowing through the last season of this show.  It will be sort of a sad day when we are done with the Fisher family.

Day 86, May 15th

On Sunday we continued our nothing weekend and lounged around for most of the day.  Reading and relaxing is what consumed most of our time.  Before we started making dinner, our last night before the planned meals took affect, Ryan suggested we go for a jog/walk along the canal behind the house.  Perfect, as it would get us out of the house, but also give us a good photo opp for the blog!! Seriously, I think we do a lot more random stuff merely because we need material to talk about!!
Anyway, we headed out the gate and on to the canal, ran light poles, and talked about how quickly a part of town can change.  A mile or so down the canal we turned around and headed back home.  A nice ending to a nice a relaxing weekend.  We went home, cooked up some dinner, and watch The Killing.  Does anyone else watch that?!?! So good.

Day 85, May 14th

This was the first Saturday in weeks that we didn't have anything planned, and we were super stoked to do close to nothing.  We woke up and cleaned the house, then hit the pool for the afternoon.  I had to read for Book Club on Wednesday, plus needed to catch some rays to rid myself of my paleness.
This week is my favorite week of the year in Arizona, Restaurant Week!! Usually in the fall, they added a spring week, and I was overcome with joy!  We tried to narrow it down for weeks and finally decided on Tapas Papa Frita, a delicious Spanish restaurant in Old Town.
After our pool day, we hit the town, and enjoyed our three course meal.
We strategically picked a place that included a drink with the price, so we started off the night with some Sangria, it was good, a little strong, but good.
For the first course we got the Spinach and Garbanzo Stuffed Piquillo Pepper and the Crab and Goat Cheese Empanada. So good, I'm sure the waiter thought we were food critics since I took photos of each plate as it was served.
For the main course, Ryan had the Oven Roasted Mahi-mahi w/ Spicy Tomato Sauce, while I enjoyed the Tres Reyes combo of Cheese Stuffed Portobello, Tomato & Potato.  I think I enjoyed my meal more than Ryan did, not to say he didn't like his, but I seriously loved mine!! Yum, wish I could have some right this minute!! For dessert, I was so sad that we didn't get that for the first course as it was so freaking scrumptious!! I had the Churro with chocolate dipping sauce, and Ryan ate the Apple Bread Pudding.  I was so full, but the churros were so good, I forced myself to eat at least one of the two.
We had a delicious meal, and a great night.  Our waiter was amazing, maybe because he thought I was a critic, or maybe because he's amazing!! Either way, you want some Spanish cuisine  this is your place.
After dinner we walked around The Waterfront and then headed to the drive in movie, yes, we are adorable, and saw Bridesmaids.  I thought we'd be one of the few at the drive in, but news flash, it is incredibly popular!! It was packed!! It was a funny movie and a fun night!

Day 84, May 13th

Friday night, Ryan had a baseball game, crazy right, he just had one on Tuesday!! So when my friend Elise asked if I wanted to do Happy Hour, I was happy to have plans, other than my shopping trip!!
I met Elise at Ra after work, and lucky for us, the last time my mom went there they had a bad experience, so I had a coupon for 1 free roll!! Elise and I chatted about our lives, about the book for Book Club that neither one of us had finished, and enjoyed a nice evening.  Of course, in Sarah fashion I didn't take a picture of that.  For all my followers know, I don't ever do half the things I talk about because I don't capture the moment!!

After dinner I headed home, and to the gorcery store.  I know these coupon people save like 90% when they go shopping, but for my first time I knew that wasn't possible, and I knew I had to keep it small.  So I saved about 27%, which isn't impressive, BUT I got a bag of tortilla chips for like $0.17!!! Small victories for now.  Plus, I stocked up for our next week's dinners!!
Ryan came home, from another victory, iced his elbow and we spent the night chillin like a villan...yep I said that!!

Day 83, May 12th

I should first remind you all that I have become a couponer.  Not an Extreme one yet, probably largely due to the fact that I wouldn't be able to store 28 boxes of pasta in our house, so for now, a regular couponer.  With my coupons, and ads, I had planned on going grocery shopping Friday night (wild I know) while Ryan played baseball.  My other new thing, as lame as this may sound, is to plan out our dinners for the upcoming weeks.  I found that either we were eating the same thing, or boring things, or going to the store 4 times a week to pick up one thing for dinner, and frankly, this madness had to stop!!
With two full weeks of May ahead of me, I printed out a calendar, googled, weekly dinner planning, found a cute little blog that addressed my exact need, and planned out our dinners for the rest of May.  Ryan and I both love cooking, but unless we know what we're going to have for dinner, our conversation mid afternoon is always the same, What should we do for dinner tonight? On This Week for Dinner, there were weekly menus posted, along with different recipes to try, so I was very excited to have found this, and start our new dinner plan.  Our life will be changed forever!!! Or at least, we will start having new and delicious dinners at home.
So, now that you have that back story, on to Thursday!! I had a Board Meeting after work on Thursday, so wouldn't get home until late, which is why the grocery shopping trip couldn't happen until Friday, which is also why our dinner was a hodge podge of food we happen to have lying around the house.
Ryan slaved over dinner while I worked late curing diabetes :) When I got home, we ate dinner and I told him how exciting our life was about to become with our planned out meals! He, maybe not as equally as myself, was also excited!!

Day 82, May 11th

When I bought the eggs to dye Easter eggs, I went to Costco, well it being the week before Easter, obviously I wasn't the only one with this bright idea, and the only option left was the 60 count of eggs! So I got it, and we dyed about 20 of them.  Ryan and I usually have eggs for breakfast on the weekends so we had gone through some of the stock, but definitely not all.  On Tuesday when Ryan was playing baseball I googled how to tell when eggs had gone bad, interesting stuff if I do say so myself...and so I found the eggs were still good, but not great.
I told Ryan that Wednesday night we had to have breakfast for dinner and then over the weekend I would hard boil the rest!! So that's what we did!! We ate our Brinner and enjoyed some Six Feet Under.  Lovely little lazy Wednesday!

Day 81, May 10th

Tuesday, Ryan had a baseball game, so I was settled in reading my book for next week's Book Club meeting.  I got a call from Ryan saying they needed helmets and they were in the garage so could I bring them...well so I had to move from my comfy spot, lug the bag to my car and drive off to meet him.  I thought about staying for the game, but my allergies were killing me so I didn't think sitting outside all night would be wise.  Captured this photo of Ryan then headed home.  I read, ate dinner, and waited for Ryan to arrive home.  They won their game, yay!! And that was about all the excitement for Tuesday!

Day 80, May 9th

Back home Monday, so no more pizza roll dinners, back to the gym with me!!  We hit the gym then made dinner, lemon garlic shrimp and grits which is quickly becoming my favorite!! While cleaning up, Ryan politely asked that I make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, which he has been asking for for weeks! Since he made such a lovely Mother's Day dinner, I decided to get to work on the cookies. Plus I sort of use any excuse to bake now that I have a Kitchen Aid!!! Don't mind my post gym look!!
I made the cookies, and we caught up on all of our shows from the past week.  We watched Michael's last Office and literally I cried, I'm tearing up now thinking about it!! Then watched Glee, Modern Family, The Killing, all the wonderful shows everyone should be watching!! Nice relaxing night back at home with all the boys!

Day 79, May 8th

Happy Mother's Day!
A few years ago for Mother's Day my wise sister and I decided we should just go get pedicures and lunch for Mother's Day, and now, three years later it is a tradition.  Ann (sister) was in New York for work and just got back on Saturday, so we had lots to talk about as we got our pedicures.  After we had pretty feet we headed to Z Tejas..duh... for a late lunch.  Of course, I didn't take any pictures of that!! Either way, Happy Mother's mom, you're cool!!
We haven't mastered the two family celebration yet for all holidays, and since I have a tradition, and I'm crazy about tradition, it wasn't really a question for me to budge.  So, while I was with my mom and sister, Ryan had lunch with his parents.  Now, mind you, two weeks ago, I asked him what his family usually does for Mother's Day, told him what we do, and asked how we could make it work. He shrugged and said nothing. Then on Friday, yes, like two days ago, he suggested we all do lunch together, as if the entire city of Phoenix wasn't already booked up for Sunday!! So that didn't work, but hopefully our mothers enjoyed their days.
We'll get it together for next year...hopefully.
I was done house sitting and headed home after what seemed like for months I had been gone.  My lovely fur children asked Ryan to make a nice dinner for me, and they even sprung for some gifts.  The Unida Cantina cd (yay!) and a flower...such wonderful kids I have!!

Day 78, May 7th

So I hit the road to Prescott Valley early Saturday morning.  They were having a walk from noon to 7 p.m., but I need to be back in Phoenix for a wedding at 5, oh the life of a rock star...
I got to Prescott Valley around 10:30, helped a little with set up, ahh-ed the teens with my humor, thanked all the kids for supporting JDRF, and was back on the road by about 1.  Got back, went to check on the kids in Chandler, got ready and headed home to get Ryan for Jenna and AJ's wedding!! Lucky for us it was a stone throw from our house, so I didn't have to worry too much on time as long as we left with minutes to spare!!
The wedding was at The Legacy Golf Resort, which was beautiful, and the reception was at a family friend's house, which was also beautiful!!
Look at these adorable love birds! Ryan sat on the end so he had the task of photo taking.  When the ceremony was over he told me he felt like he took too many vertical photos. I said it was fine, because most of the time, vertical photos aren't the majority!! We headed to the reception and sat with all the lovely JDRF folks.  They had a margarita machine, which was a perfect idea!! We spent most of the night shaking our groove things since that's sort of what we do...
Jenna's brother went to high school and played baseball with Ryan so they had a lovely little reunion, it's such a small world isn't it?!?! We closed out the night teaching others how to dougie (update...rest in peace) and then headed home after another wonderful wedding!
