It started to get a bit chilly so we went upstairs to change before we explored a bit more. As Ryan changed I lied down on the bed...bad move, 5 hours later we woke up, 10:30 p.m. groggy and hungry. So we hit the streets trying to find any place open and willing to feed two tired Americans. We found some nice guys cleaning up who said they'd feed us. I'm not sure about Ryan but from the pool bar I expected the portions to be about the same, which is why I ordered my own personal pizza and he a calzone. I'm sure the staff laughed at our reaction when we saw the size of the portions. This was also when we learned they don't totally get the phrase, "can we get a box" instead they say, "take home?" and so we did. And then promptly went to sleep, jet lag 1, Groggers 0

Day 3, February 21st
Day 2 and Day 3 honestly sort of mesh together with all the travel but Monday started off in Madrid. It was probably the most stressful time of the trip since we had to check in with the airline to get our boarding pass for our flight to Tenerife. We aren't fluent in Spanish by any means, and I can barely order mexican food to be honest with you. On top of that, the Madrid airport is huge so it wasn't easy to get around quickly. But after about an hour and a half we made it to the ticket counter, got our boarding pass and headed off to wait for the plane. We took the about 3 hour flight to Tenerife, and I slept the entire way, it was lovely!! We arrived around 12:30 p.m. or so, caught an expensive cab ride to our hotel and took a much needed shower. After we were so fresh and so clean we headed down to the pool for a drink. This was the first of many experiences on the trip to find that places don't really give you a drink menu, so we ordered margaritas thinking that would be a safe bet. Well it was basically tequila and a splash of sweet and sour, far too strong for this girl, so I ordered a beer (just a beer, they don't ask for which one) and made Ryan drink the strong drinks.
