Day 5, February 23rd
On Wednesday we got up and took a cab to Playa de las Americas, it's a tourist like town a little west of where we were staying. There was a beach there, hence the Playa, so we brought our suits for some lounge time after we saw the sites. The area was very tourist driven, there were lots of shops everywhere, I saw ladies with H&M bags earlier in the week so I was secretly hoping it was here that the H&M was, sadly it wasn't.

We went to the shops, enjoyed the American music and then searched for a place for lunch. It had probably been 5 days since we had mexican food and since that's like air for us, we decided on the mexican food place. I ordered a Sol, finally a place where I could choose my drink! And they brought it with a lemon instead of a lime, that was fun and different. The highlight of lunch though was on the menu they had an Arizona burger, that made us both gleeful. After lunch we hit the beach with all the incredibly tan people. Seriously do they not work?! How do they have such amazing tans? We stayed on the beach for a few hours, then walked around a bit, went and got a drink and then walked back along the beach to watch the sunset.
After sunset we went to this place called The Monkey Bar, it was really good, and probably the closest traditional Canary Island food experience we had. The very casual nature of Europeans was difficult for us to get a handle of, I think dinner lasted like 3 hours, we had to hunt some one down to get our bill and it really seemed we were the only ones who were in a rush to leave. I wish we had such a leisure attitude about time, it would be nice to not always be so concerned about all the small things that we make so big. After dinner we got a cab back to the hotel where we decided tonight was the night we'd hit the hotel pub, we watched a very cheesy but entertaining Magic Show and then got roped into a conga line before doing the YMCA and Cha Cha Slide, which side note, Europeans do differently than Americans, it was our dance and I felt like I didn't know what we were doing!! Wednesday was a nice day, and probably the fist day we stayed up past 11 p.m.! Jet lag 2, Groggers 0.
